“Greetings from Califournia” brings up the specialty of The Neighbourhood’s golden-state roots, a prevalent topic throughout their discography.
In an interview with The Seventh Hex, guitarist Jeremy Freedman said the following about the song’s origins:
"The meaning is a blur for me. I always thought it was about drugs, but I feel like I remember Jesse saying something about what political shenanigans were going on at the time that inspired him to write those lyrics."
