I don't get how this album is so weak and how Please Please Me is way better

The Beach Boys album Surfer Girl murders this album. Actually any of the 3 albums the Beach Boys released in 1963 destroys this album.

Very interesting opinion. Would you mind to elaborate a bit on why you feel that way? Not trying to put you on the spot, it's just so rare to see someone really champion the early stuff to the extent of considering one of the pre-Rubber Soul albums to be their best. I personally hold A Hard Day's Night as my favorite/their best, by the way, so I'm not totally on the other side here.

It was time for them to ditch the covers. Unlike the first album, where a couple of the best songs are covers, here the originals crush the covers. "Roll Over Beethoven?" "Please Mr. Postman?" "Money (That's What I Want)?" All these songs had already been done to DEATH even by 1963 and not a single one of them is performed definitively by The Beatles. On the other hand, "All My Loving," "It Won't Be Long," etc., are brilliant songs that have gone down as some of the Beatles' best and some of the best Pop songs of all time.

They did GREAT versions of 'Roll Over Beethoven', 'Please Mr. Postman' and 'Money (That's What I Want)' on this album, as also from 'You Really Got A Hold On Me' and 'Devil In Her Heart'. And I don't think there were any 'better' or 'more important' cover versions on their 'Please Please Me' album, not even the amazing 'Twist And Shout'. And yes, 'All My Loving' or 'It Won't Be Long' are amazing songs, but tracks like 'I Saw Her Standing There' or 'Please Please Me' stand easily on the same level. I think the covers even play a bigger role on 'With The Beatles' than on their first album. Only my opinion. :)

For some reason it seems like this album is not mixed and produced as well as the other Beatles albums. All the songs on the album sound a little muffled.

The greatest Beatles album. Completely beats out the later ones, except for the White Album, which is the one contender.

Their worst? Are you crazy? Every Beatles album is superb, but Beatles for sale is their weakest.

I used to think it was their worst too, but recently it's been my go-to Beatles album. It's more consistent than their others, I guess, and there aren't any tracks I skip at all. If I could only choose one Beatles album, it'd be this one. Love it!

You know..We bitch a lot about what the world is coming to..and I think the grump is well earned..But every now and than I listen to one of the first Beatles songs..and it makes me realize just how lucky I am to have been born to see Rock and Roll being invented..Than just in the nick of time The Beatles came along and took Rock to another level..Hail, Hail..Rock and Roll

underrated its a great album [2] and the first one I bought of the Beatles. I love the song "it won´t be long" so much, it´s the song we listened to when we learned about the Beatles at school. The whole form found it great and since then I´m a Beatles fan. :)

think there is no way to appreciate it unless you heard it when it came out. Louder, dreamier, chord progressions that made Chuck Berry swoon...this was seminal..but dated now, only because they dated it
