“Money” is a song that at first sight might seem superficial and shallow – it talks about Poppy’s obsession with money and material things, and how cash very often takes center stage in people’s ambitions and life goals. However, as the song progresses, Poppy makes it readily clear that she’s being satirical regarding the importance of money. She’s actually pushing for a message consisting of the exact opposite of what the song reads: money should not be that important a thing for people, and they shouldn’t spend their whole lives trying to solely trying to acquire wealth and opulence.
