Pretty overlooked album for sure, I prefer City a bit more. But this one needs more love, heck Strapping Young Lad should reunite. Oh, and that cover of Exciter by Judas Priest is phenomenal!

I love the Exciter, Judas Priest cover, Devin really nailed it, in his own way :)

This has actually become one of my favorite albums. It's really a grower, it took years for me to seriously love this album. Favorites are SYL, Rainy Season (seriously, both of these are icon SYL songs) Skin Me and Cod Metal King, it's a really great album! Hopefully everyone who is lukewarm on it will see the light ;)

Not their best nor nearly the best debut ever made, but it's not as bad as Dev himself claims it to be. The first two tracks are classic SYL, killer stuff! Some other songs are cool as well, especially some of the riffing and industrial atmospheres. The Japanese bonus track "Japan" is great, and features a part which was later re-written into "The death of music" on Ocean Machine, for those who don't know. I guess this was a good debut in one way, though - it made City even more great and surprising!

Starting to think this may be better than City. Idk it's just really heavy and hypnotizing at the same time.

I feel this album is unjustly disliked. "SYL", "In the Rainy Season", "The Filler: Sweet City Jesus", "Skin Me", "Cod Metal King" and "Satan's Ice Cream Truck" are among his best as Strapping Young Lad. I think you all need to take a second glance at this album. The Filler is one of the more intense songs he has done.

Rather weak an album apart from a couple of songs. It's pretty clear that it was meant to be a joke (for the most part at least).

Strapping's worst album, but still fuckin great. S.Y.L. is absolutely crushing.

THEE essence of 'Industrial Metal' and the only album that REALLY deserves to be called as that (beside Ministry's 'Psalm 69', perhaps...)

Look at the cover for this album, and then look at Killswitch Engage's 'As Daylight Dies'.
