That bridge!! 🔥🔥🔥 One of my all time favorites of the 90's. And I still wanna know who actually killed Mary.

"...We used to walk down by the river/ She loved to watch the sun go down/ We used to walk along the river/ And dream our way out of this town..."

Didn't remember this song until now, did never know who was the performer so could never even try to find it. Love the Spotify's Soft 90's list for finding some forgotten gems!

I remember this song playing on Radio 1 when I was still in school. I liked it then but not as much now although it remains embedded in that early 90's era.

for those that mentioned Twin Peaks, he does describe it as a bad episode of Twin Peaks!

Odd thing is that the town of Hazard, Nebraska was happy that this song made them famous. Personally, I think it makes them all look like racist jerks...

I'm giving this mor classic far too much thought, obviously - but from the clip, whilst it seems clear that the sheriff did it. Did Mary have an affair with the sheriff, or was she hooking up with random guys in the car whilst Richard did his Peeping Tom thing? And another thing - why did the sheriff harass "Richard" when the oddball kid was the prime suspect anyway? Was there not enough evidence to put him away, so was the sheriff trying to intimidate a confession out of him?

I worked at Kmart in the early 90's and I remember this song being on the tape that played continuously. I got totally sick of it back then! I thought I'd scream if it played again! But now it's kinda nice to revisit it all these years later.
