This album, especially the last few songs give me a feeling of late summer melancholy.

This is the album of hers I find myself craving most often. Even though there are heavier moments, to me the album feels somehow really comforting and it's like I'm listening to a painting or something. I like how "low-key" it is at times and I love the way the guitar sounds all over this album.

especially it’s you, the desperate kingdom of love, and the darker days of me and him. all so beautiful

I tend to find that this is her second weakest album. The Hope Six Demolition Project takes the cake on that. But it’s funny because this is not by any means a bad album. Just feels disjointed and it doesn’t carry as strong of a clear and concise theme or message compared to her other albums.

funny how we appreciate different things at different moments in life. used to largely overlook this album, now I'm drowning in it.

My addiction to PJ stars with this album. Unforgettable feeling like falling in love for the first time.

... better than "Stories from the City...", though. Still, Polly can do it better.

My least favourite actual album (at least I can pretend 4-Track Demos isn't an actual album). The production's once again sunk to sounding dissipated and messy (Rob Ellis' fault again?) like Dry and Rid of Me but without their glimmers of energy or force (Who the Fuck?), and in other places it sounds like a less well-constructed Is This Desire? (Shame). The songwriting's also not at the same level as the previous albums (not to mention the cover is silly cheap) despite some standouts like The Desperate Kingdom of Love or The Darker Days of Me & Him... I wonder if the B-sides are better?

It's a really good album and a brilliant way to follow up the perfect and polished Stories. [2] there are a few really personal moments on this, and that's hard to find with pjs stuff. it's my least favorite of hers but it's still better than my favorites from a lot of other artists.

I'll never understand why so many people shit on this album. It's a really good album and a brilliant way to follow up the perfect and polished Stories.
