While I don't nearly listen to this album as much as I feel I should, I've got to love the atmosphere and sometimes I just kinda miss the way Tarja sung in the past. While I like her later work both with Nightwish and alone, sometimes I wish she would revisit this style of singing for a bit even if just for a few songs.

Probably my least favorite of the Tarja-fronted albums, but I still enjoy it and certainly think it has its charms. Also, "Elvenpath" is considered a classic NW track for a good reason - it rules.

Same over here, it is a pretty mellow and slow album, I always thought my least Nightwish-Tarja album was Century Child, but now that I am re listening their discography this album is one of thei weakest for me, still has its iconic moments as for example Elvenpath and Beauty and the Beast, epic tracks indeed

Giving this album another listen after a loooong time. Tuomas vocals are pretty bad but as someone already said, it sort of adds to the charm of it. It’s really Nightwish trying to find their feet, and they get off to a pretty great start. Angels Fall First is a standout song, this song deserves much more recognition.

I love everything about this album. Beautiful and catchy. And this cover! Omg. They did an amazing job here

This album has really grown on me. The singing by Tuomas is still rather rough, but nowadays i think it only adds to the charm of this album. Very impressive for an album that was only supposed to be a rough demo for the record labels

Their best, for me. And it's basically a demo tape. I love Tuomas's singing on this.

To be honest, I'm starting to like this album. There are LOTS of interesting tracks in this album. I can say this is better than Century Child and Once (which these 2 albums for me has lots of filler tracks!)

At least I don't have to be preached to as much with this album (when compared to their later shiite)

I love this album so much. It's their second best, just behind the phenomenal "Oceanborn".

I'm so disgusted by post 2004-Nightwish and so in love with old atmospheric metal from the 90s that I think that this first album became my favourite one in the end. Very dreamy, beautiful, heavy too, and definitely inspired by great acts like The Gathering or The 3rd and the Mortal.

Except for the fact that Lunatica's vocals are even more awful than this. *hides username*

To be perfectly honest, I would have guessed this was early Lunatica, had I not already known it was Nightwish (or heard the vocals). The music on quite a few songs remind me a lot of Lunatica.
