“Everything Fades Away” is a song recorded by Mariah Carey from her third studio album, "Music Box" (1993). It appears on the international edition of the album. It was available to American audiences through the “Hero” single as a b-side, before being officially released on "The Rarities" album in 2020.
Within the booklet of "The Rarities", there is a short blurb on each song. The passage on “Everything Fades Away” reads:
One of the more personal songs I wrote during this era. This was a B-side on the “Hero” single and never got the attention I find it deserves. I guess the label didn’t quite know how to categorize it musically at the time, but it’s an early indicator of a place I would end up exploring further down the road.
