Man, that's what I call country music. That steel guitar on his songs is out of this world.

He brought a live Christmas tree to my grandmother's home and helped the family decorate it. My Mom was only 3 years old but she still remembers. They called him Donnie. It was in Greenfield Ohio

The most underrated musician / singer of all! A shame. He made so much better songs than "Take this job and shove it" or "She's all I got"... - "Angel of the highway" is a fuckin' legendary masterpiece.. Put Johnny Paycheck in the Country Music Hall of Fame!

What a great man. One of the best musicians. Legends like you will never die! Your songs are unforgettable... - Johnny Paycheck, George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams must rise again to bring REAL COUNTRY back (together with David Allan Coe, Rebel son and Hank 3!) - R.I.P. Johnny Paycheck!

Johnny Paycheck gets terribly overlooked. He's so much more than "Take This Job & Shove It". Just looking at the guy, it's hard to believe he had the vocal range and talent that he did, not just for performing, but songwriting too. I mean, look at song titles like "He's In a Hurry (To Get Home To My Wife)", "If I'm Gonna Sink(I Might As Well Go To The Bottom)" & "I'm The Only Hell (Mama Ever Raised)". They're as witty and great as they sound. RIP Johnny. You left the world some fantastic country music which deserves to be passed on for generations.

The last line of his bio cracked me up: "He is survived by his wife Sharon PayCheck and son Jonathan PayCheck." X-D Jonathan PayCheck. Take This Job And Shove It is the stuff!

I played this song loudly at work for a week before I retired. They got pretty tired of it.

The voice of George Jones with the redneck of David Allan Coe....in the immortal words of Miley Cirus, "the best of both worlds."

I think we can all relate to this song at one time or another. Johnny told it like it was . He may have made some mistakes ,but he is not to be judged by us. He was a great singer and entertainer. Rest In Peace Johnny!

VykkDraygo: Those who have gone before us have yet to be judged, are not conscious of anything, and are simply "dead in the ground" -- they are not "in the void", so to speak. The soul cannot function independently of the body. This is why the Resurrection of the Dead will be so pivotal: why would Christ come back to resurrect the bodies of people who were already in heaven? Likewise, Judgment Day would lose much of its impact if Christ had already judged the billions and billions of people who had died before His second coming. My beliefs on this subject are actually at odds with the church that I attend, so the jury is still out, I suppose.

And, no, Tejanos, Paycheck has not yet gone to meet his maker. This will occur after the Resurrection of the Dead and Christ's second coming.

Tejanos: I have about 300 Johnny Paycheck songs, and I can't recall any that disparage someone on the basis of race. Just wondering where you got that opinion. Perhaps you are thinking about David Allan Coe.

The guy Johnny Paycheck shot was my grandpa's brother's daughter's husband. That's about the only connection I have to anyone in the music business, lol.
