Biography

    1998 – present (26 years)

Index Case formed in 1998 when guitarist Josh Parker and drummer Jordan Spence started writing music in Jordan's basement. Vocalist Joe Ansley joined later. The band bought recording equipment and began to record Birth. Index Case started booking shows in Des Moines and slowly built a following. Soon they added Korey Birkenholtz on bass. The band recorded 2 more independent albums Glass and The Weak and The Wounded before finally getting a deal with No Name/Elektra They headed to California to record their album The L. Soon after the album's completion, No Name Records folded, and Index Case was without a label. Also at this time, bassist Korey Birkenholtz left the band for personal reasons. Bassist Nick Borror was selected as his replacement. Index Case soon joined Mortal Music, operated by Tim King of Soil fame. They used the recordings of The L and it was released on September 25, 2005 as their self-titled album Index Case. The band began to tour for the album, and eventually founding member Jordan Spence had to leave the band. Index Case selected Ryan Berrier as his replacement. Ryan Berrier left the band in the Fall of 2007 and has been replaced with Josh Ickowitz. As of Spring 2008, Index Case is still without a label.

As of June 12, 2010, their latest (and possibly most anticipated) album "Augstagein" has been released. The band released this album fully on their own, and have no anticipation of joining another label anytime soon.
