“27” is the 10th track from Fall out Boy’s fourth studio album Folie à Deux. The title is a reference to the 27 Club, the name given to the unusually long list of musicians who have died at age 27, including Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, often from drug overdose. Wentz believed that he was living a similar lifestyle to those part of the 27 Club, even to the point Wentz and his management believed that he wouldn’t make it past 27:

“I spent most of the year I was 27 toxic, just completely over-medicated. I was stoked to make it past 27 everyone was really worried. My management company were panicked, because I was out of the office, and ‘pharmaceutically engaged’.”
