And now after two rambling years comes the final and greatest adventure. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual pilgrimage. Ten days and nights of freight trains and hitchhiking bring him to the Great White North. No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild.

Read Krakauer's amazing novel about McCandless over 10 years ago. His story has since followed me through my travels, reminding me that there is much more to the picture than we'll ever know. Penn's film adaptation of Into the Wild is spectacular, with Ed's baritone voice haunting my being long after the disc has ended.

Just finished watching the movie for the first time and I am simultaneously melacholy, joyous, rambunctious, and peaceful all at once. What an amazing story that this equally beautiful soundtrack accompanies. Christopher McCandless's still out there somewhere...
