This album is a masterpiece no doubt, but the lyrics are too cryptic! As english is not my main language I have to read them carefully to understand what they are singing about.

IMO The Gallery > Jester's Race > Slaughter of the Soul, but all of them are classics and great in their own terms

No other album by them comes close to this for me but there are a few contenders for 2nd place. Some of the best stuff in the genre.

This, Of Chaos and Eternal Night + IF's Subterranean & Jester Race and Eucharist's Mirrorworlds are the benchmark of Melodic Death Metal i.m.o. And absolutely nothing wrong with the female vocals by the way, I like the fact they're not the typical soprano-vocals most metal bands use, but a rather 'normal' and passionate female singing voice.

The album being too sophisticated is a fair point, I guess... It's harder to grasp than basically any other album by them, but it's so full of great moments that it kept drawing me in. There's certainly a specific vibe and palpable romanticism to it. With some stunning poetry to boot, but that's not exclusive to this one.

I never really liked it until I listened to it a few times. But once it unlocked it's become probably top 3 in the DT discography imo. There is so much to love about it. The riffs, the lyrics, the production, the million tempo changes, Stanne's incredible vocals,

This was sophisticated for the mid '90s death metal, love the bass and acoustic parts. It's aged surprisingly well!

"The only weak thing in this album is the female vocals. They're horrendous." Completely disagree. [4]

Ah, the nostalgia! Still conjures up the same emotions it did back when I first heard it.

Their best , and the best melodic death metal album of all time, IMHO. A masterpiece.

Such a layered album... almost classical-sounding at some points. Must say it never failed to impress me after all these years. A long-time favourite.

The best Gothenburg melodeath album. At first I loved it, now... well, I still love it. Sheer insanity mixed with beautiful (..indeed) melodies.

Tha Gallery is filled with beautiful melodies when Slaughter of the Soul is rough and assertive (and Jester Race is just Ok :D)
