Biography

Belmondawg – also Belmondo, Belmondziak or Młody G – was a key influence on the shape of Polish rap and pop culture in general over the course of the 2010s, and his idiosyncratic style of wordplay has become permanently embedded in the country's language. Belmondziak's career has been marked by a series of controversies and beefs of various kinds, and over the course of it the rapper himself seemed less and less interested in living up to the expectations of the national scene, eventually turning to laid-back rhymes over casual, abstract beats.

He started his career in 2012 as Bojkot, but gained popularity a few years later already as Belmondo thanks to the 2014 mixtape Sos, ciuchy i borciuchy, recorded with Kaz Bałagane. By then, he had already developed his unique style of rap, based on creative wordplay, inflectional treatments inspired by the English language, 90s pop culture themes and ridiculing the stereotypical characteristics of Polish rappers. In 2016, Belmondo formed the band Mobbyn together with Oyche Doniz, in which he performed until February 2018, when the group broke up following a highly media-driven dispute. In 2018, Belmondo reactivated Mobbyn in a duo with Sopot rapper GSP and in November 2018 they released their second studio album entitled. uhqqow. In 2019 he was dropped from the band, but returned a year later with Poppyn and new material. In 2021, his first solo EP, Hustle as Usual, was released.
