The gorgeous chord change to an A accompanied by an F-sharp bass (on the "Saturday" of the first verse and repeated thereafter) displays the group's profoundly musical nature. Particularly since Alex had spent the day drinking with the band's accountant, Julian Hedley, and recorded the bassline "completely pissed".
